Home-Based Day Care Business
We live in the day of double-income families. It may be economically necessary for most couples or partners to bring in two salaries. So it may be a feasible idea to start a home-based day care business, and work from home while being able to stay with and supervise your own children. With a minimum investment, you can run a family child care business and have the opportunity to be at home with your own children as well.
A day care business is a wonderful option for many of us who have the skills, talents, and need I say patience, to run one. So it is not a business for everyone or anyone that likes their office hours, and time away from house and home. Therefore, you will need to ask yourself a very important question or three. The first of many is “how much do I like kids.” We all love our own children, but taking care of a whining Brat that is not yours, can become an undesirable aspect of the business.
Caring for and guiding young children however, can be a very rewarding and happy experience, which can provide any caregiver a real sense of satisfaction. You also do not have to be a female to do this type of job, as more males are entering the scene. “Daddy Day Care” starring Eddy Murphy is a good example, and although a fictional type cast model, it has it’s true to life ritual at hand. And as more women enter the workforce and commute to high paying office jobs, the role of the male day-care becomes more and more prevalent due to necessity.
While staying home with her own children, any mom who wants to start her own day care business can contribute significantly to the family income. This is a classic example of the most common type of caregiver or provider. Many people are happier when they can be with, and make themselves available to their young children throughout the day. And some people have special needs kids that may require a little extra attention, or perform better with a parent around. The family caregiver can meet these objectives head on while adding money to the family’s budget.
In general terms, a family childcare business is a licensed and registered childcare program in the home, and one in which children who are cared for less than 24 hours a day. Someone who has had some sort of training in child development and education runs it. This training may be obtained through previous work experience or an academic degree, continuing adult education, or seminars. The number of kids cared for will vary in the range of 1 to 12, depending on licensing. But the provider determines the age mix and daily schedule of activities.
