Home-Based Career
A new work from home-based career may be the ultimate answer to the doldrums of the 9-5 career plan. Money management was never a strong suit in high school, and preparing young people for the telecommuting job environment was, and still is as I understand, still not being taught. You may want to ask your kids if they are prepped, or even been given any association or guidance towards a home-based career.
In school we have been taught and trained to get a good education by learning, and studying hard. Our goals from then on – for the majority of us, is to plan our futures based on the common mans thinking. This may include talking to a guidance counsellor and taking suggestions leading into your future career. But what if you always wanted to take the path less travelled, make use of any of your talents, and veer off from the norm?
A home-based career can take on many elements or fundamentals in its purpose. A career in online marketing for example, may also become your business, or be stated as such, and we are fortunate to live in the new age of easy and affordable Internet access. It is hard to imagine for most people what the online world will be like 10 or 20 years from now, as the labyrinth of opportunity that we see today seems to grow broader and seem almost infinite.
People can also alternately pick up business ideas from doing a job they already do. I have seen this type of action take place many times, and on occasion the apprentice will become much better than the teacher, or apt in the culture of handling a home-based business. One of the best ways to become proficient in a career is to seek out employment with a business, learn it while getting paid, then starting out on your own with the knowledge. But done only if it makes sense in terms of feasibility.
Previous to the computer age and online access there was no such thing as online marketing, obviously. Telecommuting simply did not exist, and the ideas afforded to working from home were pretty slim. Most people went out and found jobs, and accepted it. The self-employed on most levels, usually ran a business that provided services or products people could use on a more personal basis, with merchants they felt they could trust.
