Home Child Care Challenges And Solutions For Work At Home Moms

One of the biggest challenges when working a business is balancing home child care with the day-to-day routine of work, or your home job. Work at home Moms and Dads face certain restraints when trying to get work done, especially with younger children still not in school. Even with older children who can be quite demanding at times, lack of support can interfere with our routine business activities, and even the domestic part of things.

Ironically most of us start a home-based business in order to be closer or more available to our children and family. Even Mothers who do not have a job outside the home or do not have a business, need their quiet time. So it can become especially frustrating for someone who is just starting a home business to concentrate on their work when the demand for attention from kids comes into play. It is interesting to note that many successful women in business do not have kids, especially many of the prominent ones with high-end jobs or titles.

Home child care solutions range typically from finding a qualified home sitter, to dropping your child off at a daycare centre, or waiting till they are old enough to go to school. Some moms or parents find that reorganizing their time and trying to get work done when kids are napping, works out pretty well. That combined with the availability of a spouse to help out will work in a lot of cases. Another option is other family members such as Grandma or Grandpa, or even a friend to help balance your time spent working on your business.

Child care centres are naturally expensive, and sometimes not always the best solution or an attractive alternative for fostering your child. Child care facilities are often one of two things. They can be a great source of learning and development for your child, and offer responsible service and adequate and safe accommodations, or they can be a nightmare for your child. Make sure you get referrals when choosing a childcare centre, and talk to some of the parents that have their kids enrolled there. This may seem like a lot of legwork, but it will pay off in the long run.

Another option for home child care is to share time with another mom or parent who is your same situation as a home worker. There is a steady increase every year of home-based or work at home moms who are in the same situation as you are with their children. Interacting with other moms and sharing child care strategies may not only be a benefit for your domestic care options, but for your business or home job in general. Socialization with other moms or parents who are on the same page as you business-wise, can sometimes produce interesting results and even partnerships.
