International Online Marketing

It took barely ten years for the World Wide Web to evolve from its U.S. based and driven English language dominated medium, to an international online marketing world-renowned vehicle setup for worldwide users. The online population now makes up for more than half of Internet users, now dwarfing the North American on liners, even though the U.S. has the largest number of absolute users. It was only a matter of time, but that time is now a reality.

Some of the busiest online international marketing takes place in both Sweden and Denmark. These European countries are very active in online buying and account for a great percentage of online activity and transactions made internationally. The French, English and Germans however, are known to be less active in buying online, and are more widely known to buy once a month, compared to a Euro-wide average of 7 to 8 online purchases a year. But this is still a good market percentage when tapped into.

International online marketing can be either a very lucrative or foolish home business move, depending on how you research it or how carefully you select your foreign market. Your strategy for selling abroad may need to be a little, or a lot, more sophisticated than local or americanized marketing methods. Such considerations as language barriers, or currency conversions may be of vital importance when considering what it takes to make online sales as well. There are also many government resources in which to seek out assistance in many of these matters.

The cost of doing business overseas is not as straightforward as shipping to countries such as the United States or Canada. Shipping costs are another vital factor that need to be looked at when dealing with international customers. International online marketers need to carefully consider price settings for international charges, as well as the additional handling fees and other possible costs that may accumulate. Additionally one must be aware of the different time zones associated with even customer care and technical support.

So far we have looked at the many downsides of doing business internationally online or overseas. And this is probably why many companies or small home businesses only ship within North America, and avoid the extra legwork. But for people who want to achieve the bit extra, or in some cases the big extra, international online marketing can take you there if done within tolerances and properly researched. You may also find that you have, or found a product or service well suited for a certain European country or territory. You can start with one, learn the ropes, and move on from there.
