Internet/Insider Press Release

This week’s focus is on the ever-increasing popularity of the Press Release. I have read many definitions of the term, but here is mine simply put:
A press release is news, or an announcement, which is designed to provide new and, or, interesting and factual information to a public audience…be it delivered using online technology or local Print. It is also used to inform people of events, or new undertakings such as joint ventures, or achievements. That is my definition of such, in my opinion, and the strategic way in which I use them.
Hopefully after you are done reading this, you should have a better understanding of what a Press Release is all about, as I will provide better and more in depth examples, and information that I have discovered to be very useful about this subject as a prolific marketing tool! If they are done right, they are an indispensable source of Free traffic!
If you are worried about having the skill to write one, there are many services available out there, combined with in house editors/writers, which will actually write one for you. I have always written my own, as I believe in Frugal Marketing endeavours. However, a professionally written press message will yield great results, if you in fact have no idea how to write one, or you just do not have the time. The link to the service below used to be a Free publication, but now you have to pay. But it will also provide a better understanding of what a press article is all about…Read what they have to say and then come back here!
Here is a good place to start for more information
about Press Writing and submission.
Press Release Writing Tips!
There are many free services where you can submit your release. This is what I do and it works great, as long as you have an angle or something new worth writing about. Never make your Press Release sound like an ad. We are not writing ads here, and a lot of services will not even accept them that way. What we want to achieve here, is a newsworthy article or “story” which is both informative and enlightening. Designing your newsworthy release in this manner takes a bit of time, but is well worth the effort.
You must first start by finding an angle, or subject in which to write about. For example; If you have a site that is new to the web or just recently published, (I would make sure it has at least 10 to 15 pages first,) you may want to try and announce it to the World. This is natural because not many people know about it yet! But does anyone really care? This is the point for consideration. You must make your subject or angle “newsworthy.” No one wants to hear (as for an example,) about a new work at home Website that is going to solve all your money problems, and make people Rich.
News that is worthy, is what we must put out… What do you want to hear for example? Taking the time to make good news or provide substantial and interesting factual evaluations is what will make you shine as a New News provider. And if you think this is a hard endeavor, … well you better go back to your 9 to 5 and stay there!
Seriously now; you do not need to that! Because many unprofessional writers [including myself] have put out decent press releases, just by thinking a little outside the box, and using what we’ve learned. You may be surprised at who picks up your release, as many high ranked sites can pick them up, if you know where to submit. More on that later.
The best advice I can provide at this point is to look at other publishers newsworthy Press releases. You can find them at any of the links provided on this page for more in depth ideas. I would provide you with a copy of mine, but I do not need anyone copying an example of true genius… Just kidding!
But if you want to find some of my press releases, just take some advice from my other Internet / Insider pages and find out who, what, where, and when I did them! Learning how to do things yourself through search and following links to other sources and using more than one opinion can be an invaluable learning experience. Use Google, and e-mail me back with your findings. I would love to hear from some of you on this topic!
Another great source of Information on press release is right here at your finger tips: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Press_release
Hint:Use Wikipedia.com for other topics of interest as it is an indispensible sourse of information and topics!
Note: Many of the ebooks, Free Newsletters, and other garbage I have studied and read, never even hinted of press releases, much less gave any pertinent information of their existence. This may probably be due to the fact that press release information is so widely available, but in my opinion overlooked! The Guru’s on the other hand have used this tool for years. They will always claim to be your Big Buddy and offer free secret advice…I have yet to see them offer anything truly useful for Free!
Also, if anyone can point me to a newsletter, or website that in deed shares this type of Information for free… I would really like to see that, and be most appreciative! And I am not talking specifically about press Release information, but as Marketing Secrets/information as a whole. Most of the free newsletters boasting free Marketing Secrets that I have read, offer only re-hashed outdated advice or common knowledge you would eventually find anyway. That, or even worse, inspirational advice, along with a real lame sales pitch.
Take care; Simon
