Most people know that fuel costs fluctuate and have risen exponentially over the past few years, and are probably going to increase in the future. Rising fuel costs are an event that most people would probably be willing to bet on, for good or ill. But fuel costs are only part of a definite downside to vehicle ownership and usage.

For most people who need to commute, this is not practical, but what if you could cut that cost down to a fractional expenditure? Commuting for even small distances can take its toll on any account. And if not prepared for a sometimes-overwhelming break down or accident, you may well be driven into debt. But people who work from home can indeed learn and take part in the functionality, and even service of their own vehicles.

Lets get straight to the point! Telecommuting saves money, and in fact cuts down on vehicle ownership costs hands down. It is also better for our planet and lungs. I have also made it a point of servicing my own vehicles as a hobby & frugal attempt at saving even more money working from home. Vehicle maintenance is not rocket science in any aspect, and people who are afraid to attempt it are doing themselves a great disservice. You can wear gloves if you have concerns about getting your hands dirty or gathering dangerous carcinogens.

Many people usually have no problem testing themselves at learning home renovation, so why not vehicle maintenance. Often times it is even less messy than the job of home decorating or dry walling.
